Campaigns
We
are an organisation who began by simply identifying needs within
our prison settings. These often varied and included minor support
such as sourcing a Spanish Quran for a South American convert
who cant read English well, to Ramadan and Eid campaigns, inviting
guest speakers and collecting hundreds of prayer mats (which cost
the prisoners up to £8, when they earn up to £1.10
a day)
Our
objectives are to link the community with the prison and beyond.
We have invited community members to come in and take classes
within education (for all faiths), attend prayers and even to
cook for them during Ramadan. It is important to create these
links from within, in order to give a chance for both parties
to feel a part of something.
Belonging
and a sense of community pride is important to individual self
esteem and can gives purpose.
We
identify methods of engaging with cross sections of society where
the needs are diverse.
